Training and career
Richard studied sociology, social
psychology, family sciences and post master organizational
development and action research in organizations at Louvain University. Further counseling training in Gestalt,
Client-centered and focusing.
He has been working as a private consultant
and ended up counseling managers and professionals on integration of
career and family life in Zurich.
He knows and understands
what expats, executive managers, diplomats, lawyers and the higher
educated are concerned and talking about.
Richard also taught phenomenology of
problem solving, learning process and moral development at school of
continuing studies (SCFP) of Lille university department Law and Health
(France).
He's also a certified mountain leader, fluent in Dutch (his mother tongue), English, French and German and understands some Spanish, Catalan and Polish.
Hobbies and interests
Richard is a former 4 beads scouts leader DCC involved in leader training. He's also a Mountain-leader. His actual job Dutch language teaching, languages, learning strategies, life sciences, research on cognition, happiness, moral and character development, macro-economics, hiking the Pyrenees Mountains and aikido are his hobbies.
Approach to learn Dutch the fastest possible way
Richard's personal method is based on his
training in one to one teaching and his knowledge and skills in the
field of phenomenology of cognition:
Few language courses seem to take this recurring finding of learning
research seriously: the importance of a dedicated, empathic mentor
focused on the student, his or her person, learning style and what
he or she wants to learn. This human factor is all the more
important, the more difficult the thing to learn is. And as research
confirms: learning a foreign language is a most intensive
intellectual task.
Fortunately Dutch grammar is quite simple. This allows you to focus
on communication: understanding and speaking Dutch about topics
you're interested in.
Thanks to his fluency in English Richard understands what you are
trying to say. And can provide you with the appropriate Dutch
vocabulary, well-made sentences and correct pronunciation. This is
what will make you understandable.
Richard will make sure your Dutch improves by the hour. You'll learn
modern living Dutch as spoken by highly educated Dutch speakers.
Because your teacher is comfortable in both cultures, he knows from
experience the differences in social grammar, manners and customs
between Anglo-Saxons and the Dutch and Flemish. The differences
between what is grammatically correct and what is really said (or
can be said). While teaching you the Dutch you need, he will pass
